Layuna “Lee” Gerace

October 2, 1940 – February 9, 2025

Layuna “Lee” Gerace, 84, of Silver Creek, NY passed away on Sunday evening February 9, 2025 at Buffalo General Hospital with the company of her family at her side.

She was born on October 2, 1940 in Buchtel, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Alice (nee Bowen) Smathers. She married the love of her life Francis “ Frank” Gerace on February 15, 1958 in Buffalo, NY and he preceded her in death on March 28, 2005.

Lee is survived by a sister, Veronica (late Donald) Diegelman of Derby, NY; three grandchildren, twelve great -grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by a son Philip Gerace and two brothers, Lawrence and Bobby Smathers.

Lee was a long time member of the Silver Creek Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.

In her younger years she worked for the Silver Creek Canning Factory, Eden Canning, Hermes Hide Away and was a crossing guard for the Silver Creek Police Dept.

Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 11- 1 PM,where a funeral service will follow at 1 PM. Interment will be private in the Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Lee’s memory may be made to the Silver Creek Fire Dept. 172 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY 14136.
