Edwin C. Gunther
May 31, 1933 – July 1, 2025
Edwin Curtis “Curt” Gunther, 92, of Silver Creek, NY, passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2025, at his
home.
He was born on May 31, 1933, in Branchburg, NJ, the son of the late Harold and Esther (nee Simons)
Gunther.
Curt graduated from Dunkirk High School in NY in 1951. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army
during the period of the Korean Conflict and was Honorably Discharged as a Non-Commissioned Officer
attaining the rank of Corporal. While serving in the Signal Corps as a Radio Equipment Operator and
Maintainer, Curt was stationed in Alaska. Because of his technical expertise he also served at locations in
Washington State and California assisting and training other Soldiers. During his military service, he
picked up skiing, photography, exploring, and traveling as some relaxing hobbies. He even later on
constructed a dark room in his home to develop his photos. After leaving the Army Curt worked as an
electrician for Bethlehem Steel for 19 years. After retiring from Bethlehem Steel, Curt returned to school
earning a Business Administration Degree from Erie Community College. That degree and his military
training enabled him to open Gunther’s Electrical Maintenance which he operated in and around Silver
Creek for over 25 years, only shocking his children a couple of times.
Surviving are his two sons, Edwin T. (Michele) Gunther of Baldwinsville, NY, and Timothy M. (Angel)
Gunther of Copperas Cove, TX; two grandchildren, Olivia and Devan Gunther; a brother, Roger (Lynn)
Gunther of Henrietta, NY, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara (nee Stone) Gunther, long-time owner and
operator of Costa’s Pizzeria.
After retiring from his electrician business, Curt enjoyed working crossword puzzles and socializing with
his family and friends. Curt lived a full life and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Curt
exemplified what it means to be a father. He was always there for his sons and was a true role model
whom they will always remember and admire.
In accordance with Curt’s expressed wishes services will be private.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY.
