Carol A. Prowse, 85, of Silver Creek, NY passed away peacefully on Wed. Oct. 22, 2025 at Fiddlers Green Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Springville, NY.

Carol was born on December 29, 1939 in Silver Creek, NY the daughter of the late James and Angeline (nee Guarcello) DeJohn. She graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1956 and continued her education at SUNY JCC earning an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene. On August 3, 1963 she married the love of her life Edward F. Prowse at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2021.

Carol was a lifelong area resident who co-managed the family business DeJohn’s True Value in Silver Creek for many years.

Carol is survived by three beloved sons, Edward (Jennifer) Prowse of Dunkirk, NY, James (Katherine) Prowse of Smyrna, GA and Daniel (Kim) Prowse of Wauwatosa, WI; five cherished grandchildren, Ariel, Gabriella, Nathaniel, Leo and Clara Prowse; two great-grandchildren, Aaliyah and Leilani; two dear brothers, Vincent (Judy) and David (Linda) DeJohn; many nieces and nephews along with her canine companion Sam.

Carol was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, where she faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister and many years supporting the priest and rectory. She also was a former member of Tri-County Country Club teaming up with her husband Ed in the Mixed Couples League for many years. She traveled to Buffalo, NY on a regular basis to help out with Ladies of Charity, which was very dear to her.

Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Home, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Sunday, October 26, 2025 from 4-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 27, 2025 at  Our Lady of Mt Carmel RC Church, 165 Central Ave. Silver Creek at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
