Janis I. Griewisch, 79, of Silver Creek, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon Feb. 11, 2026
at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Gowanda, NY on Dec. 14, 1946 the daughter of the late Robert and Leota Ratzel. She
married the love of her life Thomas M. Griewisch on July 24, 1965 in Silver Creek, NY, he preceded her in
death on Dec.27, 2011 after 46 years of marriage.
Surviving are two children, Erick (Michelle Dash) Griewisch of Silver Creek, NY and Lisa Griewisch of
Salem, IN; four grandchildren, Ericka (Sid Scott) Griewisch, Dakota (Brianna) Griewisch, Andrew Wollins
and Thomas Griewisch; two great – grandchildren, Layla Weiskerger and Lainey Griewisch; two nieces,
Lindsey and Janelle (Michael) Martin; also survived by a very dear friend, Gretel Kaiser.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Robertson.
Jan graduated from Gowanda High School “Class of 1965”. She worked for J Adams (WNY DDSO) for
more than 30 years as a therapy aide.
Her membership’s included the Silver Creek Firemen’s Club, the Silver Creek VFW, Gowanda Moose
Club, Slovenian Club and she was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Silver Creek.
Jan enjoyed bowling, traveling with her husband and friends, snowmobiling, attending her children’s
and grandchildren’s sports events and school activities, she loved to go to lunch with her fellow retirees
also trying her luck at the Casino with her friend Gretel.
Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Tuesday,
February 24, 2026from 4-7 PM, where a Memorial Service will follow at 7 PM. Interment will be private
in the Glenwood Cemetery.
