Obituary of Marion J. Pagano

Obituary Marion J. Pagano, 89, of Silver Creek, NY passed away on Sunday morning, January 17, 2021, just weeks before his 90th birthday. He was born on February 11, 1931, the son of the late Joseph and Lena (Ortolano) Pagano in Sheridan, NY. He was one of twelve siblings, predeceased by all 6 brothers and four sisters: William (Frances), Mary (Dan) Saltarelli, Lena (Horace) Bifaro, Joseph (Bernice), Charles (Jean), Steven (Grace), James (Theresa), Cecilia (Mike) Petrella, Hyacinth (Arthur) Calcott, Sam (Pat) and Franklin Pagano. Marion attended Country School #3 in Sheridan until 7th Grade. From there he attended Silver Creek High School and graduated in 1948. He served in the US Army, Occupation of Germany NATO Command from 1952-1954.Upon an honorable discharge, he returned to Silver Creek and worked as a Union Carpenter. In 1959, he started his own construction business in Silver Creek and successfully ran it until his retirement in 1993. At that time, the company was turned over to his son, Franklin. He was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, president of the Holy Name Society for several years and was a prior member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was married to the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Mary Lou (Pelletter), on May 17, 1952 and they would have soon celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary, They have four children, Franklin (Suzanne Schaff), Marianne (Ron) Bowers, Michael (Jennifer Restivo) all of Silver Creek, NY and Louis (Tammy) of Kentucky; 8 grandchildren: Daniel (Jenna) Pagano of Illinois, Brittany Pagano of Illinois, Brittany Pagano of Illinois, Kayla (Marty) Chenery of Colorado, Michael Jr. and Miranda Pagano and their mother Wendy of Silver Creek and Joseph, Emily and Samuel Bowers of Silver Creek. They also have three great-grandchildren and one on the way: Alaina and Dominic Pagano of Illinois and Mila and baby-to-be Chenery of Colorado. In addition, he has been blessed with four step grandchildren; Christian (Shelbi) Restivo, Marissa, Noah and Grace Restivo and two step great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Eli Restivo; also survived by many nieces and nephews. A special note of sincere gratitude to his private caretaker Pat Newberry, who continues to bless us with her heartfelt care and unending support. Also, a special thanks to the staff at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center for all the incredible care, love and support that they provided to him in his last year. We are so truly grateful to all for helping us during our time of need. Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will no public visitation or services. A memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 165 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY 14136, or a charity of your choice.
