Obituary
Philip J. Swiatkowski, 65, of Silver Creek, NY died unexpectedly on Saturday morning September 1, 2018 at the Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY.
He was born on September 30, 1952 in Buffalo, the son of Felix and Florence (Przybylak) Swiatkowski .On October 17, 1992 he married Valerie L. Cross at the First United Presbyterian Church in Silver Creek.
Surviving are his wife of Silver Creek; his mother, Florence Swiatkowski of Buffalo; two sisters Deborah Smith and Diane (Richard) Bender, both of Buffalo; a brother, Paul (Marie) Swiatkowski of Las Vegas, NV; also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Felix P. Swiatkowski.
Phil was a 1970 graduate of Emerson Vocational High School in Buffalo, where he studied to be a draftsman, he attended Erie Community College. He retired from TOPS after many years of service. He also worked as a machinist for Trico, where he met his wife. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a licensed charter boat captain.
In his younger years he was very active with the Boy Scouts and was a former Boy Scout Leader. He also shot competitive archery and finished 11th nationally in a tournament in Hawaii.
His memberships included the East Aurora Fish & Game Club, the Dunkirk Moose, Silver Creek Fireman’s Club and VFW, Evans Rod & Gun Club, Southtowns Walleye Association, NRA, Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club, and the Eastern Lake Erie Charter Boat Association, past president and current treasurer.
Phil was known for his handyman talents, he enjoyed life and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek on Wednesday September 5, 2018 from 3 until the time of services at 7 p.m., burial will be private. There will be a Celebration of Phil’s Life on his birthday, details to be announced.
The family suggests memorial contributions in Phil’s memory to the Silver Creek Emergency Squad, 162 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY 14136 or a charity of one’s choice.
