Obituary of Elizabeth A. Sly

Obituary Elizabeth A. “Liz” Sly, 90, of Sunset Bay formerly of Tonawanda, NY passed away Monday May 21, 2018 at her residence in Irving, NY. She was born in Buffalo, NY on February 21, 1928 the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (McWilliams) Schmitz. She married Edwin C. Sly on April 7, 1951 in Buffalo, NY and together they raised five children. Surviving are three daughters; Mary (Tim) Doeing of Irving, NY, Sarah Siegel of N. Tonawanda, NY, and Katherine (Mark) Burkholder of Tonawanda, NY; two sons, David Sly of N. Tonawanda and Donald Sly of Tonawanda; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Jerry, and Paul Schmitz. Liz loved the beach at Sunset Bay she walked it twice a day. In the beginning it was summers at the beach, as soon as the kids got out of school it was off to Sunset Bay until fall. Eventually it turned in to full time at the Bay. She could be found metal detecting feeding the birds and working logic puzzles. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing and private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Liz’s memory can be made to the Sunset Bay Volunteer Fire Dept. 12798 Allegany Rd.
