Obituary of Kathryn M. Hilliker

Kathryn M. Hilliker, 87, of Irving, NY, passed away on Monday morning, July 24, 2017 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Kathryn was born on October 8, 1929 in Silver Creek, NY. The daughter of the late Sherman and Mary Louise (Geib) Bailey. She graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1947. A lifelong area resident, she grew up and was raised on the family farm. She married Raymond E. Hilliker on December 30, 1952 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Silver Creek and together they shared 52 years of marriage. They worked side by side on the Hilliker farm sharing chores and raising the boys. Kathryn loved to cook and bake, she prepared daily meals for the family as they tended to the farm. Her favorite flowers were gladiolas. She was a creature of habit, getting her hair done every Friday, no matter what the weather. The joke with the family was that Kathryn was part owner in Tom’s Restaurant because she went there on a weekly basis. She was an avid card player, particularly “Rummy”, a game she seldom lost. In her free time she enjoyed country music, especially Johnny Cash , and watching cooking shows. At the end of the day, Kathryn’s world revolved around her family and the farm. She also was a former member of the Growers Co-Op Grape Juice Co. in Westfield, NY. Kathryn is survived by two sons, Charles “Chuck” (Cheryl) Hilliker and Roy (Laura) Hilliker , both of Irving, NY, a grandson, Raymond(Julia)Hilliker, three granddaughters, Christy (David) Zarnoch, Ashley Hilliker, and Stacey(Andrew) Fulford, four great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, Louise(Audrey)Depasquale, Lynn (Jason) Matthews, Jonathan, Leah, and Abigail Weaver., four step great grandchildren ,a sister, Mildred (Frank) Broderick of Orchard Park, NY, four ,a sister-in-law Gloria Hilliker of Irving, NY, also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hilliker, three brothers, Edward, Milton, and Robert Bailey, two sisters, Dorothy Remington and Sherma Bailey. Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY today from 2-4&7-9PM, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 27,2017 at 11:00AM.Interment will follow in the Smith Mills Cemetery.
