Obituary of George J. Ortolano
George J. Ortolano , 85, of Silver Creek, NY died Monday evening, June 19,2017 at Autumn View Health Care Facility of Hamburg, NY following an extended illness.
George was born on August 31,1931 in Silver Creek and was the son of the late George H. and Esther (Tortice) Ortolano.
A lifelong area resident, he attended Silver Creek High School where he graduated in 1949.George was the co- owner with his brother Samuel of George Ortolano Inc. an excavating business located in Silver Creek. He married the love of his life, Beatrice Sowinski on June 1, 1957. George was a very social person, known for his generosity and friendliness .George was a shining example of a gentleman, family man and a friend to everyone. His memberships included Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church, the Firemen’s Club, the Moose Club, a former member of the Tri-County Country Club and the Sunset Drifters Snowmobile Club. In his younger years George participated in the Thursday Night Bowling League, and the Jaycees.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Beatrice Ortolano; a daughter, Mary Kay Ortolano of Clarence Center, NY, a son, Paul (Tina) Ortolano of Silver Creek, two granddaughters, Rose Valby and Laci Ortolano, a sister-in-law, Josephine Ortolano of Silver Creek, George is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Ortolano.
Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Friday,June23,2017 from 2-4 and 7-9PM.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday,June24,2017 at 10AM at Our Lady of Mt Carmel R.C. Church,165 Central Ave. Silver Creek. Everyone is kindly asked to assemble at the church on Saturday morning. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
