Concetta R. “ Connie” Manzella, 91, of Silver Creek, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, May 27,2017 at the TLC Lake Shore Hospital in Irving, NY.
She was born on April 3, 1926 in Angola, NY the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Leone)DeMatteo.
Connie graduated from Lake Shore Central School ,Class of 1944.She was a hairdresser for many years and also worked in the cafeteria at Silver Creek Central School. She married Amil C. Manzella on Sept.30, 1950 at the Most Precious Blood R.C. church in Angola, NY.
A lifelong area resident, who was an active member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel R. C. Church and the Mt. Carmel Social Club. Where she helped out with bingo for several years . Connie enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Connie is survived by three daughters, Ginny(Frank) Bonasera, Sharon(James)Hornburg, both of Silver Creek, and Carol (David) Blackford of Cary, NC, seven grandchildren Brenda Conley, Andrea(Cameron) Johnson, Jenna (Christopher)Steliga, Lindsey(Andrew)Bonasera-Koss, Amy(Dillon) Reece, Jason(Michelle)Bonasera, and Ashley Parker, nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Amil C. Manzella,two brothers, James and Michael DeMatteo, and three sisters, Laura Gugino, Josephine Highsmith, and Sophie Corsaro.
Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Wednesday, May 31,2017 from 2-4 & 7-9PM.There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church on Thursday, June 1,2017 at 10AM.Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Connie’s honor may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C.
