Obituary of Peter T. Parker

Peter T. Parker, 70, of Silver Creek, NY and Lakeland, Fla. passed away Wednesday morning, May 3, 2017 at his residence, from Agent Orange related illnesses. He was the son of the late Betty (Tallman) & John L.”Jack” Parker. He graduated from Silver Creek Central School in 1966 and became a helicopter pilot at the age of 19.Pete served in the U. S. Army, was a Vietnam Veteran having served with the 4th Infantry Division and Americal Division. He had worked for Bethlehem Steel and South Buffalo Railway in Lackawanna. Pete attended Fredonia State University, JCC, Palm Beach Community College and graduated from Hudson Valley in 1973 with a degree in Mortuary Science. He was a licensed funeral director in NY, FLA. and Pa. In 1974 Pete joined his father at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel and became the President and Licensed Manager and later the Owner. He retired in Dec. of 2010. Pete has belonged to the Huntley Hose Co. #1 of the Silver Creek Fire Dept. since 1976.He also belonged to the Silver Creek Emergency Squad for 25 years and served as EMT, Treasurer, American Red Cross CPR Instructor, and delivered the first baby for the Squad. A life member of the Chautauqua County Fireman’s Fraternity. His other memberships included the Masonic Lodge in Silver Creek, serving as Master in 1984 and 1994.Pete served as a New York State Grand Lodge officer in 1988.In addition he belonged to the Robert Jackson Lodge of Research #9010, Jamestown Consistory, Samuel Cimino VFW 6472,DAV ,American Legion 148,Vietnam Veterans of America#459,AMVETS,AMVET Riders, National 4th Infantry Division Association, Cypress Lakes Veterans Assoc., Dunkirk Moose Club 89,NRA,Current board member of the Chautauqua County Funeral Directors Assoc., Cypress Lakes Christian Fellowship, and the Cypress Lakes Masonic Group. Pete also enjoyed flying , scuba diving, skiing, traveling, camping, golf, and his dogs. Survivors include his beloved wife Sharon, daughter Sheri (DJ) Wilson of Silver Creek, Step children John D’Angelo and Jim D’Angelo, brother Jeff(Louann) Parker of Aurora, CO., grandchildren Riley, and Melanie Wilson of Silver Creek, Seth, Nick, and Jenica D’Angelo of Brocton, also several nieces and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 2:00PM from the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will be present at the Funeral Chapel from 2-4 and 7-9PM on Friday. The Silver Creek Fire Dept. will have a service at 7:00PM and a Masonic service will be at 7:30PM.
