Sylvia N. Kayko , 72, of Silver Creek, NY died Wednesday evening January 25,2017 at the Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Gowanda, NY.
She was born on October 3, 1944 in Lackawanna, NY the daughter of the late John and Lottie ( Szkutak)Kayko Sr. She graduated from Frontier Central School, Class of 1962.Sylvia grew up in Blasdell, NY and the family moved to Silver Creek in 1986.She worked as a office manager for Morgan Linen Supply and Knight Industrial Supplies, both in Buffalo, NY retiring from Walmart in Fredonia with over 19 years of service.
Sylvia enjoyed figuring out puzzle books, battery operated video games, especially poker and yahtzee and was an avid bingo player. She could be found always with M&M’s and Lay’s Potato Chips, her weaknesses. Her role as a grandmother took precedence over everything and she relished it.
Survivors include her daughter Lin (Charles Jr.) Shevlin of Silver Creek, NY, a grandson ,William Shevlin , a granddaughter , Tabitha Shevlin, two nephews, Carl and Scott Kayko, a sister-in-law June Kayko ,also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.
Besides her parents , she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Kayko Jr. and David Kayko.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 10o’clock in Our Lady of Mt Carmel R.C. Church, Silver Creek.
