Robert E. Borland, 88, of Silver Creek, NY died Monday morning December 12, 2016 at the Kenmore Mercy Hospital in Tonawanda, NY. Bob was born on March 23, 1928 in Dunkirk, NY, the son of the late Elwood and Edna (Rose) Borland. A lifelong area resident, Bob was a graduate of Silver Creek High School, Class of 1945. After graduation he went to work at Ludeman’s Department Store in 1945 and in 1965 he purchased the Men’s Wear Dept. and changed the name to Borland’s Men’s Shop .When Ludeman’s closed he moved his shop across the park to 4 Main Street from which he retired in 1992. Bob married the love of his life Louise Hall in 1965 and together they enjoyed traveling by car. They drove to California and back 13 times. His other hobbies were wood carving, making bird houses& feeders, reading, and jigsaw puzzles. Bob is survived by a step-daughter, Brenda ( Warren) Stephenson of Murrieta, Ca., a step-son, John(Joan)Hall of Cape Cod, MA, a sister, Barbara Dow of Tonawanda, NY, a brother Albert (Virginia) Borland of St. Petersburg, Fla., also step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife Louise (Hall) Borland, a sister Betty West, and a brother-in-law Bob Dow.
