Obituary of Barbara J. Dewey

Barbara J. Dewey, 86, of Silver Creek, NY died Saturday evening September 24, 2016 at Buffalo General Hospital , with her family at her side. She was born on November 2, 1929 in Silver Creek the daughter of the late Bert and Alice (Wilson) Lawton. A lifelong area resident, Barbara graduated in 1947 from Silver Creek High School. She married her sweetheart on November 23.1949 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Silver Creek. She was employed at Ludeman’s Department Store and the Record Insurance Agency as a bookkeeper, and retired from Silver Creek National Bank. Barbara belonged to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, where she was very active with the ladies auxiliary, Tri-County Country Club, participating in the ladies golf league and the couples golf league. In her free time she enjoyed reading, playing cards, ceramics and sewing. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, James W. Dewey , a daughter Virginia (Mark) Parsons of Hamburg, NY, and a granddaughter Andrea Parsons of Tonawanda, NY, also survived by many close friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Katherine Dewey. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. from St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 4 Lake Ave. Silver Creek, NY.
