Obituary of Jane A. O'Donnell

Daniel V. Conny, age 95, longtime resident of Silver Creek, N.Y., died Sept. 16, 2016 at the Autumn View Health Care Center in Hamburg. He was born July 21, 1921 in Dunkirk, N.Y., to the late James and Mary (Constantino) Conny. Daniel grew up in Dunkirk, attended Dunkirk Schools and graduated from Dunkirk High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Daniel was a recipient of the Purple Heart as he was injured during the Battle of Tarawa in the Pacific Theater. He was a former Foreman at the Ford Stamping Plant in Woodlawn. Daniel was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Silver Creek Fireman's Club.His wife, Irene R. Conny, passed away July 2, 2015. The couple was married 70 years at the time of Irene's death.Daniel is survived by: his son, Dr. Daniel J. (Marcia) Conny, of Orchard Park, N.Y.; his daughter, Beverly (Ted) Nowak of Irving, N.Y.; five grandchildren: Jason Conny, Lindsay (Greg) Luetje, Amy (James) Kennedy, Sara (Casey) Cowan and Abbey Bielfeld; seven great-grandchildren: Charlie and Adelaide Luetje, Dawson Kennedy, Ava, Cole and Parker Cowan, and Emma Bielefeld; Also survived by nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Donna Conny and Eliza-beth (Ron) Kerr and his loving pet of 16 years, Benny. Besides his wife and parents, Daniel is predeceased by three sisters: Florence Dubiel, Josephine Colicchia and Frances Marquette and his brother, Vincent. Prayers will be held Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from the HOLE-PARKER Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Avenue, in Silver Creek, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Silver Creek. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Sheridan. Friends may call Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers gratefully declined.
