Obituary of Ethel Patterson

Ethel Patterson, 93, of Silver Creek, NY went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Good Friday, March 25, 2016. She was born in 1922 the daughter of the late Harry and Millie (Salhoff) Brinkman. A life-long area resident, Ethel attended and graduated from Silver Creek Schools, where she met the love of her life, William Patterson. Besides helping on the family farm, Ethel worked at Seegert's Dairy for many years. After marrying Bill in 1949, she became a homemaker and helped her husband run their business, JohnsonBebee / Gunhill Gunshop in Silver Creek. She and Bill retired in 1988 to enjoy themselves and their family. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ethel had served as secretary and treasurer of the Ladies Guild, the LWML, and Trinity's Sunday School. She was also secretary of the Church Council, historian, helped with the youth league, VBS, and often played piano and organ at Trinity. She was a member of the Lakeshore Hospital Auxiliary and Friends of the Anderson Lee Library. Article Photos Ethel, who lovingly became known as "Grandma" to many of her grandson's friends, classmates and teachers, loved volunteering and making cookies and desserts for just about every occasion and holiday there was. She was an avid crafter, shopper and chocolate connoisseur. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, caring for her pets, playing golf with her husband and helping others in any way she possibly could. Ethel is survived by a son, Mark (Paulette) Patterson of Fla.; two daughters, Janice (Martin) Wittstrom, of Alberta, Ca. and Patricia (Robert) Pecuch of Cassadaga, NY; six grandchildren, Andrew and Jim Wittstrom, Sean Pecuch, Lisa (John) Bresson, Kelly (Scott) Jones and Jason Pecuch. Also survived by four great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Vern Patterson and several nieces and nephews . Besides her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her husband William, who passed away in 1994, and a brother, Delmar Brinkman. Her family and friends often told Ethel, she wore rose colored glasses through life. But seeing people and situations in the most positive, Christian light possible was only one of her many, many wonderful qualities. Her unconditional and unwavering generosity, care and compassion made a difference to those around her.
