James W. Frew , 88, of Silver Creek, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday , March 12 , 2016 at the Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk , NY. He was born on September 23, 1927 in Hasbrouck,N.J. , the son of the late Colin and Pearl ( Durocher) Frew. On June 19, 1948, he married Marie Airhardt . A World War II veteran , James served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1945-1952. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal and was a member of the Silver Creek VFW Post # 6472 . He worked for the Ford Motor Co. in Buffalo, NY , retiring in 1991 with over 20 years of service. James enjoyed country music , played the harmonica and liked to garden .He also was an avid Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan. He is survived by his wife of 68 years , Marie Frew ; a son William Frew of San Francisco ,Ca. , two daughters , Holly ( David) Snock of Forestville,Ny , and Tammy ( Rob) Carline of Silver Creek,NY , three grandchildren , Kayla ( Ryan ) Harvey ,Marisa and Shane Carline . Besides his parents , he is predeceased by two sisters , Marie Quinn and Margaret Cedar . Visitation and services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery .
