Obituary of Robert W. Wode

Robert W. "Woody" Wode, 91, of Irving, NY passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the TLC Lake Shore Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Buffalo, NY on April 28, 1924, the son of the late Valentine and Eugenia (Colmerauer) Wode. Bob served in the U.S. Army as a PFC during WWII and received a Purple Heart. He worked as a machine operator for Graphic Control of Buffalo, NY and later in the maintenance dept for the Veteran's Administration in Buffalo, NY where he retired. He married the former Mary Teresa Seymour of West Seneca, NY on Aug. 26, 1950 and together they raised nine children, enjoying 65 years of marriage. Bob's memberships included the Silver Creek Samuel Cimino VFW Post #6472 and the American Legion Post #148, Disabled American Veterans, Sunset Bay Boat and Beach Club, and Our Lady of Mt Carmel R.C. Church. Article Photos Bob was a Godfearing man, who was known for his honesty and integrity, generous to a fault with a very dry sense of humor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling the USA with Mary Theresa including visits to Hawaii, Alaska, and Ireland. Family was everything to him, everything else was secondary. Bob is survived by his loving wife Mary Teresa (Terry), nine beloved children, Bob (Peg) Wode of Silver Creek, NY, Kathy (Jeff) Williams of Marilla, NY, Mary Lou Wode of Glen Ridge, NJ, Tim (Mary K) Wode of Buffalo, NY, Peggy (Gary) Anstey of Cos Cob, CT, Albert Wode of W. Seneca, NY, Beth (Mark) Butterwegge, of Hillsboro, OR, Eileen Wode (Karl Schurkus) of Lancaster, NY and Larry Wode, of Gahanna, Ohio, 38 cherished grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as a brother, David Wode, and a sister, Dorothy Schlehr.
