Obituary of Gloria B. Wells
Gloria B. Wells, 83, of Silver Creek, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of St. Columban's on the Lake, Silver Creek, NY.
She was born in Brocton, NY on November 22, 1931, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Rose (Heiderman) Brown.
Gloria worked at various Western New York companies including Rem Tronics and St. Columban's on the Lake. She was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Silver Creek, serving as a Sunday school teacher and in the Ladies Guild. She was treasurer for the local Aid Association for Lutherans Chapter for many years. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed working with many young girls. She shared her love of Christ at the Lutheran Brotherhood booth at the Erie County Fair for many years and also belonged to AARP. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and embroidery. Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Dr. Victor) Veloso of Hudson, NH and Kathleen (Rev. Mark) Hanchett of Akron, Ohio. Seven grandchildren Elliott, Elia, Derryck and Emily Veloso, Craig and Jacob Hanchett and Kaitlyn (Rayce) Blackford, a brother, Rudolph Brown of Brocton, NY, a sister, Beverly (James) Fisk of Fredonia, NY, and a very close friend, Suzi Quinn Miller of Cassadaga, NY.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James M. Wells.
Family and friends may call at St. Columban's on the Lake, 2456 Lake Road, Silver Creek, NY, Friday August 7, 2015 beginning at noon until the time of service at 2 p.m., with her son-in-law, Rev. Mark Hanchett officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Silver Creek, NY, Saturday, August 8 at 11 a.m.
