Obituary of Theresa M. Ark

Theresa M. Ark, 87, of Silver Creek, N.Y., died Sunday morning, May 24, 2015 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunkirk, N.Y., surrounded by her family. Theresa was born in Dunkirk, N.Y., on April 30, 1928, the daughter of the late Alexander and Frances (Feniello) Biscaro. She graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1945, where she played many sports. She was recognized as a talented basketball player. After graduation, she worked as a secretary at Graf's Furniture Store. Theresa married Joseph Ark on April 3, 1948 at Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Dunkirk, N.Y. Article Photos Theresa is survived by her husband of 67 years Joseph Ark; three daughters, Carol (Stephen) Waugh of Silver Creek, N.Y., Joanne Picarro of Auburn, N.Y., Francella (James) Shutts of Ellenburg Depot, N.Y.; a son, David (Melissa) Ark of Harrisburg, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Tara (Kevin) Graham, Melanie Waugh, Mindy (Peter) Lucas, Lauren (Mark) Hoerbelt, William (Morgan) Picarro, Captain Scott (Danielle) Shutts, Adam (Victoria) Shutts, Casey Ark, 12 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Notaro of Fredonia, N.Y., and Lucille (Ronald) Bartkowski of Dunkirk, N.Y. She was an active member of Our Lady of Mt.Carmel R.C. Church, enjoyed helping with bingo, belonged to Mt. Carmel Social Club, and was a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader. Theresa and her husband, Joseph, were the recipients of the "St. Joseph The Worker Award." She was an accomplished cook and seamstress, who made all her family's prom and wedding gowns. She was very passionate about her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Biscaro; two sisters, Geraldine LoGrasso and Antoinette Crise; an infant sister, Clara Biscaro, and a son-in-law, Richard Picarro Prayers will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. from the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek, N.Y., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Silver Creek. The family will be present today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Silver Creek Emergency Squad or Our Lady of Mt.
