Obituary of Nancy L. Hutchinson

Nancy L. Hutchinson, age 70, of Sheridan, NY passed away Thursday (Jan. 9, 2014) at her home. She was born in Buffalo, NY on Oct. 19, 1943, the daughter of the late John and Margarita (Grunzweig) Sauerwein. Nancy graduated from Silver Creek Central School in 1959. She started her family, had her four children, then decided to go back to school to become a nurse. Initially, she earned her LPN through the BOCES nursing program. Upon completion of that, she was employed by Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, NY during the '70s. Article Photos Nancy continued her education at the University of the State of New York, completing her professional requirements for her RN degree (May 15, 1981). Furthermore, she attended Trocaire College in Buffalo, NY receiving her Master's Degree in Nursing. Nancy sent her resumes out and was offered a job at the Wyoming Medical Center. She accepted the position and moved to Casper, WY. In 1995, Nancy achieved the designation of Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse. She met her husband, Charles Hutchinson, during this period and they were married in the summer of 1988. An avid Buffalo Bills fan, Nancy loved baseball and the Colorado Rockies. She enjoyed golfing, hunting- especially with her husband, liked to cook and was very fond of her two dogs, Jax and Jill. Survivors include two sons, Paul (Emily) Smith of Forestville, NY, Scott (Tammy) Smith of Jamestown, NY; two daughters, Jeri (Carol Carey) Smith of Sinclairville, NY, Wendi (Larry) Fowler of Casper, WY; six grandchildren, Cassandra (Blake) Bird, Margaret Smith, Tyler Smith, Lindsea Eades, Gabriele Smith and Ellianna Smith; two stepgrandchildren, Mikala and Jacob Lugen; and one great grandchild, Carson Bird. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 25 years, Charles Hutchinson. No visitation will be observed. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
