Obituary of Audrey M. Crowe

Obituary Audrey Marie Crowe, age 79 of Silver Creek, NY passed away on August 27,2020. The daughter of the late William G. and Ida M. Smith. She was born on November 5,1940 in Brooks Hospital in Dunkirk, NY. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Alvin McGrath “Mac” Crowe and two daughters: Dr Kirstin (Daniel) Certalic of Phoenix, Arizona and Marit ( Charles) Ogin of Orchard Park, NY. In addition, she is survived by two sisters: Donah (Larry) Baker of Dallas, Texas and Bonnie (William) Maples of Duncan, South Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Marilyn ( Duane) McKinney. She was a proud grandmother of Jackson and Alexia Ogin, Audrianna and Clayton Certalic. Audrey was raised in Fredonia, NY and matriculated from SUNY Fredonia Campus School and Fredonia High School where she served as class officer and was fully involved in school activities. Audrey earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from SUNY Fredonia in 1962, She worked long hours at Gammon’s and Loblaws grocery stores to support her college education before beginning her teaching career at Bemus Point Elementary School. She took leave to devote herself to raising her family. When her daughters were in school, she returned to work and retired from Erie 2 BOCES Elementary Science Program. Audrey was a generous friend to all. She enjoyed socializing with her friends. She especially enjoyed and annual reunion with high school girl friends. An avid reader, she was a member of the Silver Creek Fortnightly Club. The Girl scouts of America were fortunate to have her as a leader. She enjoyed golfing, boating, wintering in Florida and traveling. She especially enjoyed a family European vacation in Italy and other countries. Her faith made her a valued member of the weekly Bible study with close friends. Despite battling with Alzheimers, she maintained a sharp wit that was often displayed with great joy and laughter, Audrey often expressed her good fortune in having a wonderful family and loyal friends.
