Obituary of Salvatore J. Sack

Obituary Salvatore J. Sack Sr., 76, of Dunkirk, NY formerly of Silver Creek died unexpectedly on Sunday evening January 5,2020 at his residence. He was born on January 28,1943 in Silver Creek, NY the son of the late Dominic and Grace (Borrello) Sack. A lifelong area resident and a graduate of Silver Creek High School Sal was the owner and operator of Sack Construction Co. for a number of years. He transitioned into being a sub-contractor for other local companies. Sal loved woodworking and could build anything. He was the epitome of a “craftsman”, well known for his finished carpentry. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. As his children were growing up he became involved as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. Sal helped to establish the Silver Creek T-Ball program and also coached Little League for many years. A diehard Yankees fan, he enjoyed playing billiards, horse racing and was well-known on the local bingo circuit. Sal also was an accomplished trumpet player. His memberships included Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church and the Dunkirk Falcon Club. Surviving are three sons: Salvatore (Gabriella) Sack Jr. of Rochester, NY, Scott (Sheri) Sack of Silver Creek, and Jason “Gino” ( Jessie Martin) Sack of Irving, NY; three daughters: Jennifer (Eric) Gibbs of St. Louis, MO, Nancy Fricker of Sugar Hill, GA. and Suzanne Bennett of GA; seven grandchildren: Dylan, Kelsey, and Tyler Sack, Cannon Gibbs, Jesse, Luciano, and Giorgio Sack; a brother, John (Virge) Sack of Silver Creek; a sister, Neline (Charles) Rizzo of N. Collins, NY; former wife and longtime friend, Carol Trippe of Browns Mills,NJ; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Sal was preceded in death by three brothers, Dominick, Anthony, and Patrick Sack, a sister, Anna Gerrity, a granddaughter, Abrianna Sack. Relatives and friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek on Thursday, January 9,2020 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10A.M. Friday, January 10,2020 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church (Please assemble at church). Committal will follow at Mt Carmel Cemetery.
