Obituary of Doris E. Welch

Obituary Doris E. Welch, 86, of Silver Creek, NY passed away peacefully on October 6,2019 at the Absolut Care of Aurora Park in East Aurora, NY. She was born on April 6,1933 in Leon, NY the daughter of the late Claude and Myrtle (Crowell) Congdon. Doris attended South Dayton High School and graduated from Forestville High School in 1950. She studied nursing at Gowanda State Hospital earning her Nursing Degree in 1954. Upon completion of her education she went to work at Gowanda State Hospital, retiring after 35 years of service. On January 25,1954 she married Thomas D. Welch who predeceased her. Together they raised two sons, Thomas P. (Kathy) Welch of Hinsdale, NY and Dennis J. (Lisa) Welch of St. Paul, MN; five cherished grandchildren, Colleen (Will) Medley, Bonnie (Scott) Badman, Savanna, Morgan, and Anna Maria Welch; one great granddaughter, Rose Badman. Doris’s memberships included St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, where she was a very active member, Habitat for Humanity, Anderson-Lee Library and the Red Cross all in Silver Creek. She enjoyed serving her community and helping out in any way she could. As per her wishes there will no public visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 28,2019 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 4 Lake St. Silver Creek. The family will be receiving visitors from 10:00 until the time of services at 11 AM. The family suggests memorial contributions in Doris’s honor to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church or the Anderson-Lee Library, 43 Main St. Silver Creek, NY 14136.
