Obituary
Karl R. Patterson, 78, of Silver Creek, NY passed away Monday evening March 25, 2019 at the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville, NY after an extended illness. He was born on February 5, 1941 in Silver Creek, the son of the late Robert and Helen (Swartz) Patterson.
Karl graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1960. He worked as a side load operator for Al-Tech Specialty Steel in Dunkirk, NY. He also served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960 until being honorably discharged in 1964.Karl married Sylvia Niedzwiecki on April 25, 1970 at St. Hyacinth RC in Dunkirk.
Karl was a craftsman who enjoyed making handmade hunting and utility knives. He owned and operated Knives by Karl in Silver Creek. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman, who belonged to the Hanover Fish and Game Club. There he loved to shoot skeet, trap and silhouette targets.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Sylvia Patterson; two sons Robert ( Michelle) of Cary, N.C. and Aaron Spare of Buffalo, NY; two grandchildren, Nicole and Chase Patterson; his canine companion Midnight.
Besides his parents, Karl was preceded in death by a son-in-law Matt Spare.
Memorial services will be held at a future date. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
