Obituary of Kathleen A. Hayes

Obituary Kathleen A. “Kathy” Hayes, 78, of Fredonia, NY passed away on Tuesday afternoon February 23, 2021 at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, NY. Kathy was a lifelong Chautauqua County resident, born in Silver Creek, NY on October 26, 1942 the daughter of the late Bert and Dorothy (Conrad) Mott. She married Donald E. Hayes on December 31, 1960 and he preceded her in death in 2003 after being married for more than forty-three years. Surviving are two daughters, Valerie (Mark) Lis of Portland, NY and Julie Jackson of Northeast, PA; a sister, Cheryl (Bill) Kuppel of Silver Creek; a granddaughter, Kathleen (Josh) Gates; a grandson, Charlie (Julia) Jackson; five great-grandchildren, Draven Hemink, Zoey, Nicki, and Jake Gates and Kingston Jackson; three nephews, Eric (Melanie) Kuppel, James (Grace) and Keith (Mari) Frederickson; two nieces, Lisa (Shawn) Kubiak and Tammy (Ike) Unsoy.; a sister-in-law, Elaine Frederickson; a friend from childhood Gail Botticello and a longtime friend Pat Wild. She was preceded in death by her longtime friend, Patricia Logan. Kathy was a 1960 graduate of Silver Creek High School. She worked in the food service department at SUNY Fredonia, where she retired with more than twenty years of service. She enjoyed arts & crafts, using macrame to make different things, ceramics, feeding the birds in her backyard. Kathy especially loved her feline companions, Dr Chang, Mighty Mouse, Polly and Delilah to name a few. Kathy’s world revolved around her family, she made everybody feel “Special” and everybody who met her knew what a beautiful person she was. Relatives and friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 11 to 2 p.m., where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Interment will be made at the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.
