Obituary of Richard D. Morabito

Obituary Richard D. Morabito, 84, of Silver Creek, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 24,2019. He was born in Buffalo on July 1, 1934 the son of the late Leo and Rose (Tasca) Morabito. He graduated from Canisius High School in 1952. On September 16, 1964, he married the late Carmela (Botticello) Morabito . Together they raised three children; Mary (Martin) Gorka of Silver Creek, Deborah (Gordon) Genco and Thomas (Sue) Morabito of Hamburg, NY. Richard served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Kleinhans WNY Distribution Center on Hertel Ave. in Buffalo as an Executive Manager. Richard was a life time member of the Hanover Fish & Game Club where he served several terms as President. During that time, he oversaw the purchase of the land and development of the club house currently located on Overhiser Road in Forestville, NY. He enjoyed outdoor activities, fishing, hunting, and especially making his award-winning wine. Richard loved spending time with his grandchildren collecting beach glass, unique rocks, and traveling to Lake George and Disney World. In addition to his children, survivors include his sister Nancy (Herb) Doeing of Hamburg, NY and a brother, Leo ( Maureen) Morabito of Silver Creek. Richard was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Morabito and a sister Carol( Monaghan) Morabito. Richard had six grandchildren, Neil (Diane) and Ryan (Ashley) Genco, Alicia and Andrew Gorka, Tara and Nathan Morabito; also two great grandchildren, Sienna Genco and Amelia Morabito-Barr. As per Richard’s wishes, there will be no public visitation as he donated his body to the University of Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
