Obituary of Diane M. Metzger

Obituary Diane M. Metzger, 77, of Dunkirk, NY died unexpectedly on Wednesday evening January 16, 2019 at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa. following a sudden illness. She was born on April 12, 1941 in Schenectady, NY the daughter of the late Herbert and Mildred (Zacharzewski) Ellman Sr. She married David R. Metzger at St. Rose of Lima RC Church in Forestville, NY on April 30, 1960. Surviving are her beloved husband of 58 years of Dunkirk; three loving daughters, Deborah (Christopher) Felt of Frewsburg, NY, Cynthia (Mark) Dietzen of Silver Creek, NY and Lisa (Joel) Schrantz of Silver Creek; five grandchildren, Jessica Hussey , Jamie Yeskey, Nicholas and Lindsay Schrantz, and Joshua Dietzen; four great grandchildren, Hayden and Hunter Felt, Brystol and Rowdy Yeske; a brother, Edward (Bonnie) Ellman of Rochester, NY; a sister, Arlene (Ronald) Gentile of Las Vegas, NV; and her Shih Tzu “Leo”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ronald and Susan Ellman and Herbert Ellman Jr. Diane was a 1959 graduate of Forestville Central School and retired as a cleaner for SUNY Fredonia, she also worked as a seamstress for the former Van Raalte Clothing, M. Wile and Co and the New ERA Cap Factory. Diane’s world revolved around her family, she loved her daughters and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived for family gatherings, holidays, birthdays and picnics, any reason to get the family together. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking, going on family camping trips, and vacations. She also liked to go to the casino and painting.
