Obituary of Iva W. McClenathan

Obituary Iva W. McClenathan ,96, of Silver Creek, NY died Thursday morning November 29,2018 at Absolut Care of Westfield after a short illness. Iva was born on October 21, 1922 in Forestville, NY the daughter of the late Henry and Hazel (Bennett) Bernett. On November 16, 1945, she married Donald McClenathan and together they shared 43 years of marriage. Surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Smith of Tucson, AZ and Edith Hills of Phoenix, AZ, also several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Iva was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Dybus, two brothers, Leonard and Raymond Bernett, three sisters, Myrtle Vitel, Ellen Olson and Jean Mosier. Iva graduated from Forestville High School in 1941. After high school she went to work at J.N. Adam Memorial Hospital in Perrysburg ,NY during WWII working with special needs children. She then moved to Buffalo, NY and was employed at Your Host Restaurant and the Goody Cake shop. She relocated back to Silver Creek, where she was a waitress at a number of local restaurants in the Silver Creek / Forestville area. Iva was a Girl Scout Leader for Troop #35 in Silver Creek for 15 years she belonged to and was an active member of the Silver Creek and Sheridan Senior Citizens Club. Her hobbies included playing cards, bowling and spending quality time with family and friends. Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Home 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 9a.m. until the time of services at 11:00a.m. Rev. Michael Leamon of the Christ Chapel Wesleyan Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.
