Obituary of James M. Erwin

James “Jim” M. Erwin, 83, of Silver Creek, NY passed away Thursday morning, May 5, 2022 at the Buffalo General Medical Center with his family at his side.

Jim was born on April 20, 1939 in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Walter and Thelma (Blakesley) Erwin. He married Sharon Hanrahan.

He is survived by five daughters, Kathleen (Donald) Garrett of Blasdell, Shelley (Robert) Erwin – Robinson of Perrysburg, NY, Cheryl Weimer of Clearwater, FL., Denine Vara and Bridget De Bergalis both of Silver Creek; eight grandchildren, Johnny (Kelly) Plucinski, April (Dr. Sergio) Ita, Shannon (Paul) Webb, Heather Robinson, C.J. and Connor Vara, Danny (Alexis) Weimer and Jeffrey DeBergalis; nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-three years Sharon Erwin and two brothers, Robert and Paul Erwin.

Jim was a 1958 graduate of Sherman High School. He worked at at the Ford Stamping Plant in Buffalo, NY for many years, retiring as a superintendent.

Jim had many club affiliations, having been a member of the Silver Creek Fireman’s Club, the Sunset Drifters, Tri-County Country Club and the Hanford Bay Association.

Jim was well known for his dry sense of humor, one never had to worry about what he thought, he would just tell you. He took great pride in his house in Hanford Bay, it always was in pristine condition. He enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling his blue and red GTO’s, playing his guitar and listening too his favorite musician, Willie Nelson. He was a diehard NY Yankee fan, he also loved to ride around the bay in his golf cart socializing with the neighbors.

Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 4-7 PM, where a funeral service will be held at 7 PM. Interment will be private.
