Obituary of Virginia L. Orr

Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Virginia L. (Estee) Orr, 92 , of Silver Creek, NY went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 19, 2023 at Heritage Village Nursing Home, Gerry, NY. She was born on July 31, 1930 in Brant, NY, the daughter of the late Alton and Mildred (Walters) Estee. She graduated from Silver Creek Central School in 1947 and attended Baptist Bible College for one year. She married Maynard I. Orr on March 19, 1949. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family and her church. She attended Christ Chapel Wesleyan Church in Silver Creek and was very involved in many church activities.

Virginia is predeceased by her husband Maynard and son David. She is survived by her daughter Elaine (Keith) Morgan of Loveland, OH and a son, Robert (Suzanne) of Silver Creek, NY; grandchildren, Pamela (Noel) Tanghal, Eric (Amy) and  Brian (Sydney) Morgan, Robert Orr Jr., Justin Orr, Kaitlin Gage, Kelsey (Ethan) Mosier , Michael and Adria Brunn; great-grandchildren Emma and Elena Tanghal, Jonah, Lucas and Andrew Morgan, Kenzie and Raelynn  Gage, Gina Krigar, Wyatt Krigar-Orr, Nolan Orr, Suzie Mosier, five sisters and three brothers, of which two sisters and two brothers predeceased her, three sister-in-laws and  many nieces and nephews.

Virginia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family first. She spent years faithfully helping her husband on their grape farm and selling vegetables at the public market. She was proud of her children and grandchildren and loved talking with them in person or on the phone. She prayed for them to come to know the Lord that she loved. She was always there to offer a helping hand or a listening ear, and her warm smile and big hugs lit up any room she entered. One of Virginia’s greatest joys in life was spending time with her family. She loved nothing more than gathering everyone together for holidays and special occasions, where she would prepare her famous pink salad and share stories and laughter with her loved ones. She loved decorating her home for Christmas and finding the perfect gift for each person in her family. She was a past member of DAR. Her hobbies were crafting, sewing, and collecting antiques. She loved taking trips to find antiques and Depression era pink glassware at household sales, antique shops and auctions.

Virginia instilled in her children the same values she had learned growing up, teaching them the importance of hard work, putting God first and spending time with family. Her legacy of love, kindness and devotion to family will live on through her children and grandchildren who will cherish her memory and carry her spirit with them always.

Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Monday April 24, 2023 from 11- 1 PM, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 1 PM.
