Obituary of Joan A. Evancho

Joan A. Evancho, 86, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023 in Silver Creek, New York with family by her side. She was born on September 20, 1936 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Fredrick and Florence Gaul.

Joan was the cherished wife of Michael G Evancho, with whom she shared an enduring bond of love and companionship for 63 years. She leaves behind her sons Michael F (Cindy) Evancho, John Christopher "Kip" Evancho, Brian Evancho, and Blase Evancho. Joan was the adoring grandmother to Danielle (Nick) Bozich, Rebecca Berdyck, Elizabeth (Ryan) Leslie, Nicole Evancho, Michael Evancho, Brian Evancho, Patrick Evancho, Brittany (Travis Reuther) Evancho and Maria Evancho; she was also blessed with eight great- grandchildren. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Kay Gaul. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her deeply.

A graduate of Mt. Mercy Academy, Joan pursued a nursing degree from St. Mary's College and added business acumen to her portfolio from Business School. Her passion for caregiving led her to serve as an LPN at multiple healthcare facilities throughout Western, NY where she cared for countless individuals with humility and compassion. She was involved in political groups for many years and volunteered at Literacy Volunteers, demonstrating her commitment to her community and our nation.

A lady of faith, Joan was a devout member at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. In her spare time, she found immense joy in gardening and was known to try her luck at the local casino. However, her greatest joy came from being surrounded by her family and friends, her home was often filled with laughter and love.
 

Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her brothers James, John, and Dennis Gaul.

Relatives and Friends may visit Hole Parker Funeral Chapel 160 Central Avenue, Silver Creek, NY 14136 Friday July 28,2023 from 3PM to 7PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday July 29, 2023 at 10AM. (Please meet at church).

Interment will be in Mt Carmel Cemetery
