Nancy Botticello Taaffe

Nancy Botticello Taaffe, 80, of Silver Creek, NY passed away peacefully on December

1, 2023.

Born on July 27, 1943 in Silver Creek, NY, Nancy was the daughter of the late Angelo

and Mary (Dattilo) Botticello.

Nancy graduated from Silver Creek Central School in 1961. Following her marriage

and birth of her children, she was a stay-at-home mom until her children were

teenagers and then worked for Citibank beginning in 1979 as a teller and later head

teller and retired from Community Bank in 1999.

Nancy’s volunteer service included serving as a Board Member of Lake Shore

Hospital Auxiliary, TLC Health Network Foundation, and Tri-County Country Club

Women’s Association, and for many years, especially over the Holidays, at St.

Columbans. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic

Church.

A member of Tri-County Country Club (“God’s Country”) for 60 years, Nancy won

the Women’s Club Championship a remarkable 39 times between 1969 and 2020,

spanning seven different decades. She and her husband Rick enjoyed playing golf

together, including in tournaments, where they won two Mr. & Mrs. Buffalo District

Championships, and in North Myrtle Beach, where they wintered for 10 years and

enjoyed visits from their children and grandchildren. They were grateful to have

taken their dream vacation to Italy in 2019.

Nancy’s passion was gardening and landscaping. Her lawn and garden were always

impeccably manicured, and she maintained beautiful flowers at her parents’

graveside for 40 years.

Most of all, Nancy cherished spending time with, and staying close to, her friends

and family, especially her grandchildren, who so often visited in the summer months

and enjoyed many activities and wonderful meals together.

Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, Richard D. Taaffe; son, Mark

(Mari) Pratt of Glen Allen, VA; daughter Julie (Luis Chacon) Beichler of Mooresville,

NC; stepdaughter Jaclyn Taaffe (Derrick Hitchcock) of Cary, NC; six cherished

grandchildren, Kristina Pratt and Andrew Pratt, and Jordan (Alex) Beichler, Nicholas

(Emily) Beichler, and Sydney Beichler, and Holden Taaffe; and two great-

grandchildren (Cohen and Avery); brothers-in-law Sal DePasquale (Chuck and Greg)

and Dale VanVlack (Dale Jr. and Evie); and numerous cousins. She remained a friend

to her former husband, Charlie Pratt, until his passing in August 2023.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her sisters Lucille

DePasquale and Judith VanVlack, and her stepdaughter Christine Taaffe.
