Dr. Vona was an amazing dentist and he took such pride in caring for his patients. I took his passing very hard as I was his dental assistant for 10+ years at TRC.
I learned so much about dentistry from him and many values about life.
He would always ask how my kiddos were. He had the biggest heart.
I already miss his stories and lots of laughs. He had some great stories! He would always bring us muffins from Tim Hortons and even brought glady and I a cake for dental assistant week!
I wish I could have talked with him one more time. My heart goes out to the Vona family.
I will miss you dearly Dr. V. See you on the other side.
~your dental assistant Stacy ❤️

So very sorry to hear about my cousin John's passing. He was the kindest man and loved to talk to d talked about us mom cousins about the Vona family he grew up with in n tonawanda. I remember when he drove my sister my mom and I streedown ganson street making us laugh about grandma vona stories
He went to the hospital to see my sister who had cancer and he always asked me about my husband's illness and my family. I was talking about him a few weeks ago to someone and Saud I've got to give him a call
Sadly a week later ge passed away and I was shocked and so sorry I didn't call him. Aunt Ruth and uncle Johnny jojn Carlo and Janet were all close to our family. He will be deeply missed.

I will certainly miss our occasional talks on the phone. Cousin John had an extraordinary memory of so many family events and stories of the colorful life along Oliver St in NT, and the adventures of working at the North Tonawanda Paper Mill. He shared many of these and we had some good laughs . He was truly a modern Renaissance Man gifted in many area. When going through some of my father’s keepsakes not to long ago I noticed he had kept news articles about John pitching for UB’s baseball team. It made him proud to see his nephew excelling in college. John was a special man and will be missed by many.

Pat and I extend our sincere condolences on the passing of Doc Vona. He was a real gentlemen and a pleasure to be with both on and off the golf course. Enjoyed his stories concerning friendly rivalries between the North Tonawanda Lumberjacks and the Tonawanda Warriors. He will be missed but his spirit survives in those whose lives he touched.

John Vona joined the New Horizons Band on the first day of its existence 20 years ago. He was a WONDERFUL musician! He played with one of the sweetest alto saxophone tones I've ever heard, and he always played with style - so much style!!! A lot of strong musicians overpower others with their ego. Not John. He smiled, played beautifully, and he always wanted the best for the group. He'd often stop by my podium on his way out of rehearsal to ask about a part of the music, comment on the great day, and share his winning smile. I missed John when he retired from our band, and I'm so sad that his light is no longer with us. I add my personal condolences to those of the entire New Horizons Band of WNY membership. Thanks for the beautifully musical memories . . . Kate McKay, NHBWNY Director

I met John when he sat down next to me with his saxophone in the New Horizons band. He had the most beautiful tone and was a fine musician, especially enjoying the jazz band and Saxtette.
In the last few years, we would meet occasionally for coffee and I learned about his early years as an athlete and as a jazz player in various bars and saloons along in the area.
Knowing him enriched my life and I will miss him.
