My sincerest sympathies to you and your entire family. Coach Berner, as I will always remember her as, was a true blessing in my life. She was a dedicated coach to our sectional champion volleyball team year after year; but, was also a good friend- reaching out to make sure everything was OK. Her smile was contagious! She provided me a love of volleyball- and for the last 30 plus years, every time I take the stand to officiate a match, I think of her. God bless you all. May your memories bring you comfort.

I have fond memories of Mrs. Berner. She was always trying to convince me and my sisters to try out for volleyball since we were so tall. She joked, "C'mon, you'll just need to stand there!" She was never able to convince me, but I always was happy when I saw she was my P.E. teacher. She was reliably upbeat and seemed to be having a lot of fun. Thinking of you and your family.

Mrs. Berner was the best teacher and coach I ever had. She gave me a chance by putting me on the team and I’m forever grateful. She gave me a love of volleyball. However, my best memory of her was in gym class when selling cookies she would always say that if u break the cookie in half all the calories would fall and and they don’t count. Thank you Mrs. Berner for being patient, kind, understanding, and making me want to work hard to be great!

Mrs Berner was my PE teacher in high school. Always encouraging, smiling and appreciate of me and my classmates. I don’t think I remember her ever not smiling! I was inspired to live an active, healthy lifestyle and have two children who are now PE teachers!

Mrs. Berner was my high school volleyball coach, my friend and a very special person. I fell in love with the game of volleyball, even when she officiated my junior high games and gave me several yellow cards for my ‘attitude’ and smart mouth. Her expectations of me taught me maturity on and off the court. To this day, 47 years later, I still play recreation volleyball and fondly remember her every time I step on the court.
Rest in peace Coach..you are the reason I still play.

Some of my best memories of summer vacations were spent with my kids at the Berner cottage. Joan was so generous in calling me, and offering me one of the cottages for a week, for many summers. She was a sweet friend, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. My prayers go out to Mr. Berner and the family.

Mrs. Berner was such a huge part of my childhood. The day they moved away really marked the end of such a beautiful chapter of my life. Almost 20 years of just walking in their house, joining in on dinners, endless sleepovers in the van, holding the first new born puppy, weekends at the beach, even raking apples, all precious memories thanks to Mrs. Berner.
My deepest sympathy and condolences to the entire Berner family. You know I adore you all.- Becca
